ARISE Bible Study: Judges 10

True Repentance Requires Action

Main Text: Judges 10:6–18 (CSB)
Focus: God is not just looking for apologies—He’s looking for alignment.

REFLECT

What pattern do you see repeating in verses 6–7?

“Then the Israelites again did what was evil in the sight of the Lord…”

The people repeatedly fell into idolatry. This wasn’t a one-time fall—it was a cycle.
Reflection Question: Have I found myself in a repeated pattern that dishonors God?

What does God say to them in verses 13–14?

“You have abandoned me… Go and cry out to the gods you have chosen.”

God holds them accountable. He’s not being cruel—He’s being honest.
Reflection Question: Have I been depending on false sources of comfort instead of turning to God?

REVEAL

What changed God’s heart in verse 16?

“So they got rid of the foreign gods among them and worshiped the Lord, and He became weary of Israel’s misery.”

Their actions—not just their words—showed true repentance.
Reflection Question: What am I willing to remove today to show God I’m truly returning to Him?

What leadership void is revealed in verse 18?

“Which man will begin the fight…?”

There was no clear leader yet, even though the people were ready to fight.
Reflection Question: Is God calling me to step up in a way I’ve been avoiding?

RECEIVE (Scripture to Meditate On)

2 Corinthians 7:10 (CSB)“For godly grief produces a repentance that leads to salvation without regret, but worldly grief produces death.”

James 1:22 (CSB)“But be doers of the word and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.”

RESPOND (Challenge + Prayer)

This Week’s Challenge:
Make a list of anything in your life that’s been competing with God’s position in your heart (idols, distractions, habits). Choose one thing to intentionally remove this week and replace it with intentional worship or time with God.

Prayer:
“Lord, I don’t want to just cry—I want to change. Forgive me for choosing anything over You. I surrender every idol, distraction, and compromise. Cleanse my heart and guide me back to Your will. Not just for relief, but for real relationship. In Jesus’ name, amen.”
