Preparing to Build God’s House
Key Scriptures
1 Kings 5:3–5 (CSB)
“You know my father David was not able to build a temple for the name of the Lord his God. This was because of the warfare all around him until the Lord put his enemies under his feet. The Lord my God has now given me rest all around; there is no enemy or crisis. So I plan to build a temple for the name of the Lord my God, according to what the Lord promised my father David: ‘I will put your son on your throne in your place, and he will build the temple for my name.’”
1 Kings 5:12 (CSB)
“The Lord gave Solomon wisdom, as he had promised him. There was peace between Hiram and Solomon, and the two of them made a treaty.”
Ecclesiastes 3:3 (CSB)
“There is a time to tear down and a time to build.”
Philippians 1:6 (CSB)
“I am sure of this, that he who started a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.”
Reflection Questions
What promises has God made to me that may be fulfilled in His timing, not mine?
Am I in a season of preparation, and how can I honor God in it?
Who are the “Hirams” God has placed in my life as partners to help me build?
How can I steward peace and rest as a foundation for building?
