God’s Covenant Warning & Solomon’s Kingdom Expansion

Key Scriptures

1 Kings 9:3–5 (CSB)
“The Lord said to him, ‘I have heard your prayer and petition you have made before me. I have consecrated this temple you have built to put my name there forever; my eyes and my heart will be there at all times. As for you, if you walk before me as your father David walked, with a heart of integrity and in what is right, doing everything I have commanded you, I will establish your royal throne over Israel forever.’”

1 Kings 9:6–7 (CSB)
“But if you or your sons turn away from following me and do not keep my commands—if you go and serve other gods and bow in worship to them—I will cut off Israel from the land I gave them, and I will reject the temple I have sanctified for my name.”

1 Kings 9:25 (CSB)
“Three times a year Solomon offered burnt offerings and fellowship offerings on the altar he had built for the Lord, and he burned incense with them in the Lord’s presence. So he completed the temple.”

Deuteronomy 8:18–19 (CSB)
“But remember the Lord your God, for it is he who gives you the power to gain wealth, in order to confirm his covenant. If you ever forget the Lord your God and follow other gods to worship and bow down to them, I testify against you today that you will perish.”

Reflection Questions

How do I respond when God reminds me of accountability or correction?

Have I allowed success or answered prayers to distract me from daily obedience?

In what ways is God “appearing again” to remind me to keep Him first?

How can I steward the blessings God has given me with integrity and humility?
