Trusting God’s Timing & Refusing to Take Vengeance

Key Scriptures

1 Samuel 26:9 (CSB):
“Don’t destroy him, for who can lift a hand against the Lord’s anointed and be innocent?”

Romans 12:19 (CSB):
“Friends, do not avenge yourselves; instead, leave room for God’s wrath, because it is written, Vengeance belongs to me; I will repay, says the Lord.”

Daniel 2:21 (CSB):
“He changes the times and seasons; He removes kings and establishes kings. He gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to those who have understanding.”

Reflection Questions

Where in my life am I tempted to take matters into my own hands instead of waiting on God?

How can I respond with integrity when others treat me unjustly?

What does David’s refusal to harm Saul teach me about humility and patience?

How do I see God shaping my character during waiting seasons?

Prayer

Lord, help me to wait on You and not take shortcuts. Give me the patience of David, the humility to honor others even when they wrong me, and the wisdom to trust Your timing. I release vengeance into Your hands, knowing You alone remove and establish leaders. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
