Trusting God’s Protection When Fear Rises

Key Scriptures

1 Samuel 27:1 (CSB):
“David said to himself, ‘One of these days I will be swept away by Saul. The best thing for me is to escape immediately to the land of the Philistines. Then Saul will give up searching for me everywhere in Israel, and I’ll escape from him.’”

Isaiah 41:10 (CSB):
“Do not fear, for I am with you; do not be afraid, for I am your God. I will strengthen you; I will help you; I will hold on to you with my righteous right hand.”

Romans 8:28 (CSB):
“We know that all things work together for the good of those who love God, who are called according to his purpose.”

Reflection Questions

Have I ever let fear convince me that God’s promises wouldn’t come to pass?

What is my “Ziklag”—a temporary place where I’ve tried to find safety outside of God’s full will?

How has God still shown faithfulness even when I’ve doubted Him?

What does this chapter teach me about God’s ability to preserve His people in every season?

Prayer

Lord, I confess that sometimes fear makes me forget Your promises. Forgive me for the times I’ve run to the wrong places instead of trusting You. Thank You that even in my Ziklag seasons, You cover me and work all things together for my good. Strengthen me to wait on You and trust Your plan fully. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
