The Anointing for Judgment — When God Raises a Jehu

Key Scriptures

2 Kings 9:6–7 (CSB)
“The prophet poured the oil on Jehu’s head and said, ‘This is what the Lord, the God of Israel, says: I anoint you king over the Lord’s people, Israel. You are to strike down the house of your master Ahab so that I may avenge the blood of My servants the prophets and the blood of all the servants of the Lord.’”

2 Kings 9:22 (CSB)
“When Joram saw Jehu he asked, ‘Do you come in peace, Jehu?’ He answered, ‘What peace can there be as long as there is so much prostitution and sorcery from your mother Jezebel?’”

2 Kings 9:30–33 (CSB)
“When Jehu came to Jezreel, Jezebel heard about it. She painted her eyes, fixed her hair, and looked down from the window… He looked up to the window and said, ‘Who is on my side? Who?’ Two or three eunuchs looked down at him, and he said, ‘Throw her down!’ So they threw her down, and some of her blood splattered on the wall and on the horses, and he trampled her.”

2 Kings 9:36 (CSB)
“They went back and told Jehu, and he said, ‘This fulfills the Lord’s word that He spoke through His servant Elijah the Tishbite: In the plot of land at Jezreel, the dogs will eat Jezebel’s flesh.’”

Romans 12:19 (CSB)
“Friends, do not avenge yourselves; instead, leave room for God’s wrath, because it is written: Vengeance belongs to Me; I will repay, says the Lord.”

Reflection Questions

Where might God be calling me to confront compromise in my own life or environment?

What prophetic word am I carrying that God is now calling me to act on?

Have I tolerated any “Jezebel” influences—fear, manipulation, or control—that need to be confronted in love and truth?

Do I trust God to bring justice in His time and His way?
