KEY PASSAGES
Romans 12:1–2 (CSB)
“Therefore, brothers and sisters, in view of the mercies of God, I urge you to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God; this is your true worship.
Do not be conformed to this age, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may discern what is the good, pleasing, and perfect will of God.”
2 Corinthians 6:17 (CSB)
“Therefore, come out from among them and be separate, says the Lord; do not touch any unclean thing, and I will welcome you.”
Judges 6:25–27 (CSB)
“Tear down the altar of Baal your father has, and cut down the Asherah pole beside it… But because he was too afraid… he did it at night.”
STUDY INSIGHT
In the Old Testament, consecration came through a vow.
In the New Testament, it comes through surrender.
Paul tells us that our bodies, our minds, and our choices become the offering. We don’t just go to church—we become the church.
We don’t just sing worship—we live it.
And then there’s Gideon: called by God, but still full of fear. Yet God gave him an assignment—tear down the idols in his house first.
Before you step into public battles, you must first deal with private altars.
KEY THEMES
Grace doesn’t eliminate holiness—it empowers it.
You cannot be transformed without renewal.
Alignment often begins with uncomfortable obedience.
God will meet you in your hiding place—but He won’t let you stay there.
REFLECTION QUESTIONS
What does it look like for me to present my body as a living sacrifice?
Have I allowed culture or comfort to shape my habits more than the Word?
Are there any “altars” in my personal life that God is asking me to tear down?
How do I respond when God gives me hard instructions?
In what area is God asking me to obey—even if it means doing it afraid?
DECLARATION
“I choose alignment. I will not be conformed to this world, but transformed by the renewing of my mind. I will obey, even if I feel unqualified. I will tear down anything in my life that opposes God’s truth. I am called, I am set apart, and I will walk worthy of the grace I’ve been given.”
JOURNAL PROMPT
Write about a time when God called you to do something uncomfortable, and how you responded. What did you learn about yourself—and about God—in the process?
Now ask God: Is there anything in my life You want to remove so You can make room for more of You?
