Joshua 15

Joshua 15

 Inheritance, Legacy & Bold Requests

Joshua 15 lays out the territorial inheritance of the tribe of Judah—but tucked inside all these boundaries and borders is a golden story of boldness, faith, and generational blessing: Caleb and his daughter Achsah.

Even after the promise is given, Caleb still had to fight. He drove out giants. Then, he raised the standard for who would marry his daughter. And Achsah? She made a bold request that changed the trajectory of her future.

 Key Verses to Meditate On:

Joshua 15:13–14 – Caleb drives out the sons of Anak from Hebron.

Joshua 15:16–17 – Othniel captures Debir and receives Achsah as a wife.

Joshua 15:18–19 – Achsah asks Caleb for land and water—and receives both.

Reflection Questions:

What land (promise, area of influence) has God already given you, but you haven’t yet possessed?
(Think: Are there any "giants" still squatting on your inheritance?)

Caleb fought with legacy in mind. Who are you making room for as you move forward?

What does Achsah teach you about asking boldly for what you need?
Are you praying for survival… or are you asking for the springs?

Is there anything you’ve been too afraid or too humble to ask God for, even though it aligns with His promise?

Scripture for Deeper Study:

Numbers 14:24 – God promises the land to Caleb because of his different spirit.

Ephesians 3:20 – God is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all we ask or think.

James 4:2 – "You have not because you ask not."

Journal Prompt:

“Lord, thank You for what You’ve already given me. Show me the areas I’ve left unclaimed. Teach me how to ask boldly like Achsah—not just for survival, but for the springs. I trust that You delight in giving good gifts to Your children.”

Declaration:

“I am not afraid to ask for the overflow. I will possess what God promised, and I will do it with bold faith, legacy in mind, and my eyes on the God who keeps His word.”
