📖 ARISE Bible Breakdown
Joshua 2 – “Faith in Hiding Places”
Key Verse:
“I know that the Lord has given you this land... the Lord your God is God in heaven above and on earth below.”
—Joshua 2:9,11 (CSB)
Context: What’s Going On?
Before Israel can enter the Promised Land, Joshua sends two spies into Jericho to scout it out. They end up in the house of a prostitute named Rahab, who hides them from the king’s soldiers. Her bold faith leads to her family’s salvation and secures her place in biblical history.
ARISE Study Points
God Will Use the Unexpected
Rahab was a prostitute, a Gentile, and lived on the edge of society.
But God used her to protect His people and to further His promise.
1 Corinthians 1:27 – “God has chosen what is foolish in the world to shame the wise…”
Reflect: Have you disqualified yourself based on your past? God hasn’t.
Rahab Had Revelation Others Didn’t
She says, “I know the Lord has given you this land…”
Though not an Israelite, Rahab had spiritual insight others missed.
Amos 3:7 – “Surely the Lord God does nothing unless He reveals His secret to His servants…”
Ask: What has God already shown you that others don’t understand?
Hidden Faith Is Still Faith
Rahab’s faith was quiet but powerful. She believed before she saw.
She hid the spies in her house while hiding her faith in her heart.
Hebrews 11:31 – “By faith Rahab the prostitute welcomed the spies in peace…”
Challenge: You don’t need a microphone to walk in faith. What are you believing God for behind the scenes?
Your Faith Covers Your Family
Rahab made a bold request: “Spare my family.”
Her obedience created a covering for everyone connected to her.
Acts 16:31 – “Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved—you and your household.”
Speak it: “My obedience will bless generations after me.”
God Sees the Scarlet Thread
Rahab tied a red cord in her window as a sign of covenant and safety.
That scarlet thread points us to the blood of Jesus.
Exodus 12:13 – “When I see the blood, I will pass over you…”
Isaiah 1:18 – “Though your sins are like scarlet, they will be as white as snow…”
Truth: God redeems, restores, and repurposes your past.
