Joshua 23–24: ARISE Bible Study Along

Choose This Day: Don’t Forget Who Brought You Here

Joshua 23 – A Farewell with a Warning

Joshua is now old, and he knows his time is short. So he gathers all the leaders of Israel to remind them of how far God has brought them. He’s not bragging on himself—he’s pointing everything back to the faithfulness of God.

He says, “You have seen everything the Lord your God has done…” — Joshua 23:3
And then he hits them with this truth: if you cling to the Lord, you’ll keep winning. But if you turn back and compromise, destruction will come.

Study Points:

Hold fast to God — even when you’re surrounded by other cultures and temptations.

Don’t intermarry or adopt ungodly customs. Stay holy, stay set apart.

God keeps His promises—both blessings and consequences.

Your reflection moment:
Have I let a little compromise sneak in? Have I clung to God, or have I been clinging to comfort?

Joshua 24 – Choose Today Whom You Will Serve

Now Joshua gathers all the tribes and gives them a history lesson:
"You all didn’t do this on your own. You didn’t win those battles by your sword or bow. God did this."

Then he delivers one of the most iconic declarations in Scripture:

“As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.” — Joshua 24:15

He draws a clear line:
You can’t serve God and idols.
You can’t say you're for God but keep flirting with your old ways.

Study Points:

Make a real decision about who you will serve.

Let your legacy be loyalty to God, not lukewarm faith.

Set up reminders and accountability so you don’t forget what God has done.

 Your reflection moment:
What “gods” have I picked back up? Is my house really serving the Lord, or just going through the motions?

Reflection Questions:

What victories has God brought you through that you may be forgetting?

Are there areas where you're compromising instead of fully clinging to God?

What does it look like for you to declare, “As for me and my house…” right now?

Prayer:

Lord, thank You for every battle You’ve fought and every place You’ve brought me through. Help me cling to You and let go of anything that tries to pull me back into compromise. Today, I choose You—again. And I declare, as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord. Amen.
