ARISE Bible Breakdown – Day 2: Focus Fast “SWITCH”

Let It Go So You Can Grow

Focus Fast Theme: Breaking free from what no longer serves you to embrace what God is calling you into.

Key Scriptures to Meditate On:

Philippians 3:13–14 (CSB)
“But one thing I do: forgetting what is behind and reaching forward to what is ahead, I pursue as my goal the prize promised by God’s heavenly call in Christ Jesus.”

1 Kings 19:19–21 (CSB)Elisha burns his plow and follows Elijah.

Ruth 1:16–18 (CSB)Ruth says goodbye to Moab and chooses to follow Naomi.

Deuteronomy 34:4–7 (CSB)Moses sees the Promised Land but does not enter.

Isaiah 43:18–19 (CSB)
“Do not remember the past events; pay no attention to things of old. Look, I am about to do something new; even now it is coming. Do you not see it?”

Key Point Summary:

Letting go is spiritual maturity.
Holding onto what God has told you to release will only delay what He’s trying to do next.

Some good things can’t go with you into the God things.
Even Moses didn’t enter the Promised Land. Not because he wasn’t loved, but because his assignment ended.

Burn the plow.
Elisha’s story teaches us not to leave a plan B for what God is asking us to do by faith.

Faith requires movement.
Ruth had to move to receive her next. Her legacy started with her letting go.

God is doing a new thing, not a recycled thing.
Stop trying to breathe life into what God has already called finished.

Study Questions:

What is one thing you know God has asked you to release, but you’ve been holding onto out of fear or familiarity?

How can you practically “burn the plow” in your life today? (Ex: deleting contacts, unfollowing distractions, setting new boundaries, etc.)

How does the story of Moses’ ending challenge you to accept divine transitions, even when they’re painful?

Ruth entered Bethlehem empty—but God filled her life in unexpected ways. What area of your life feels empty right now, and how can you trust God to fill it?

Word Study:

"Forget" in Philippians 3:13 (Greek: epilanthanomai)

Means to neglect, no longer care for, or lose out of mind.

It’s not just ignoring—it’s choosing to no longer be ruled by it.

"New" in Isaiah 43:19 (Hebrew: chadash)

Means fresh, unprecedented, never seen before.

God isn’t repeating your past. He’s doing something you’ve never experienced.

Prayer:

Father, I come to You with open hands and a willing heart. I let go of what I’ve outgrown. I release what no longer aligns with Your plan. Show me how to surrender the familiar so I can follow You in faith. I burn the plows, I release the past, and I say YES to the new. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Journal Prompt:

What am I holding onto that is silently holding me back?

If I fully trusted God with my future, what would I release today?
