Day 2: Focus Fast- "SWITCH" Devotional

Let It Go So You Can Grow

Scripture Reading:
"Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: forgetting what is behind and reaching forward to what is ahead, I pursue as my goal the prize promised by God’s heavenly call in Christ Jesus."
 —Philippians 3:13–14 (CSB)

Let’s Talk About It:
There comes a time when you’ve have to stop rehearsing the past and start releasing it. I know letting go can feel like a loss, especially when we’ve wrapped our identity around people, positions, or old plans—but, there’s freedom on the other side of release.

Some of us are still trying to bring Moab into Bethlehem. You’re trying to carry people who were only meant to walk a portion of the journey with you. You’re trying to preserve pieces of a past season when God is trying to promote you into your next.

Elisha didn’t keep his oxen just in case the prophet life didn’t work out—he burned that plow and fed the town with it. Why? Because when God shifts your identity, you don’t go back to old roles—you step fully into your assignment.

Ruth had every reason to turn back like Orpah, but she clung to the unknown with faith. She let go of what she understood and followed Naomi by faith into something unfamiliar. That kind of obedience doesn’t come from comfort—it comes from conviction.

Even Moses, as faithful as he was, couldn’t go with Israel into the Promised Land. It’s a hard truth, but a holy one: not everyone who helped you survive is meant to see you thrive.

If God is closing a door, don’t force it open. If He’s asking you to release it, let it go. You can’t keep clinging to what He’s calling you to bury.

Reflect On This:

What “plow” is God asking you to burn in this season?

Are you still trying to carry someone who’s already been released from your next?

What would it look like to fully say “yes” to where God is leading you?

Prayer + Declaration:
Lord, I don’t want to be tied to anything You’re no longer in. If it’s not part of my next, I let it go. Teach me how to release with grace. I choose to trust You even when the next steps feel unclear. Like Elisha, I’m burning every backup plan. Like Ruth, I’m walking by faith, not familiarity. And like Joshua, I’m ready to cross over into promise—even if it costs me comfort. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Meditation Scripture:
📖 Isaiah 43:18–19
"Do not remember the past events; pay no attention to things of old. Look, I am about to do something new; even now it is coming. Do you not see it?"
