Trusting God Again
Meaning of Trust:
Trust is a firm belief in the reliability, truth, ability, or strength of someone or something. To trust in God means to fully rely on His goodness, reliability, and power, placing your life and decisions in His hands. It is a deliberate choice to rely on God’s plan and wisdom above your own, even when you don’t fully understand.
Reflecting on Trust:
Many of us have been waiting a long time for promises to come to pass, and the delay may have caused a loss of trust in God’s words. Perhaps, like Sarah in Genesis 18, you’ve laughed in disbelief at the idea of receiving a long-awaited blessing. This lack of trust grieves God because He is faithful, and His promises remain true. Today, God is inviting you to confront these feelings honestly and allow Him to restore your trust in His timing and faithfulness.
Key Points on Trusting God:
- Faith and Reliance: Trusting God is about actively leaning on Him to navigate life’s challenges.
- Accepting God’s Will: Even when things don’t go as planned, trust that God is still in control.
- Obedience and Commitment: Trust often requires aligning your actions with God’s word and teachings.
- Finding Peace and Strength: Trusting in God can bring inner peace and strength, even in trials.
Scriptural Focus for Meditation:
- Genesis 18:12-15: Reflect on Sarah’s disbelief and God’s response. His promises may seem impossible, but they are sure.
- Habakkuk 2:3: Trust God’s timing. Though the vision may seem delayed, it will surely come to pass.
- Matthew 24:35: God’s words will never fail.
- Hebrews 13:8: Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.
- Isaiah 40:8: The word of God stands forever.
- Malachi 3:6: God does not change; His faithfulness endures.
Reflection Activity:
Today, spend time in your quiet place with God. Begin with worship, soaking in His presence, and listening to the song "The Time Is Now" (Sunray Worship). Let the music minister to your heart and bring you to a posture of trust and surrender.
Journal Prompts:
- Heart Check: In what areas of your life have you lost trust in God? Be honest and write down how you feel about His promises and timing.
- Reflection on Scripture: Meditate on Genesis 18:12-15. How do you relate to Sarah’s doubt or disbelief?
- Past Faithfulness: Look back on your life. Write about a time when God came through for you. How can remembering His faithfulness strengthen your trust today?
- Prayers for Restoration: Write a prayer asking God to restore your trust in Him. Include specific areas where you’ve struggled to believe in His promises.
- God’s Timing: Reflect on Habakkuk 2:3. How can you align your heart with the truth that God’s timing is always perfect?
Closing Prayer:
Heavenly Father,
Thank You for being a God who never changes and whose word is always true. I come to You today with my doubts and struggles in trusting Your promises. Help me to release my fears and frustrations, and restore my trust in You. Remind me of Your faithfulness and the times You have come through for me. Teach me to wait on Your perfect timing, knowing that You always fulfill what You have promised. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Spend today meditating on these scriptures and reflecting on your heart posture. Trust that God’s promises for you are true, and allow Him to heal the broken areas of your trust. The time is now to believe again.
